Japeth Aguilar has been a vital piece in the Philippine Basketball Association’s Barangay Ginebra championship machine. And, as the Gin Kings look to reclaim the Philippine Cup, the high-leaping forward has made it a point to be fully fit when the season begins.
“I need to take care of my body because I was afflicted with ailments,” he told reporters after Ginebra’s 103-92 Game 6 victory over Meralco, which kept them as Governors’ Cup champions.

“While on the bench, I have a good look at Meralco. For my part, I wanted to add a new depth to the game. My teammates are already strong scorers and playmakers in their respective positions. So, even if I’m not 100%, my mindset was to keep setting screens and getting my teammates open. “I believe it all worked out,” he remarked.
His performance could have been an indication that he’s on his way back to his devastating form. Aguilar, on the other hand, is not taking any chances. He intends to make the most of his offseason.
