The UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament will start on May 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena. It will be shown live on TV.
A bubble occurred to set up in the basketball tournament. League Executive Director Atty Rebo Saguisag said they have decided to ease their health and safety rules for the women’s volleyball teams, who will be able to train and play at home and at the same time.
It’s still up to the schools whether or not they want to keep their players in a bubble.
People who work with volleyball say Saguisag: “The home-training-game venue will set up for the athletes, the officials, and everyone else in the restricted area.”
In the beginning, we were very strict in basketball. We kept the most recent basketball game we had, but only if we met certain conditions. The Commission on Higher Education and our biosecurity officer are significant, and we keep in touch with them all the time. If new information changes how we do things, we might relax.
Nonong Calanog, the president of the UAAP Season 84, said that the league is still keeping its restrictions on the playing area. The teams and production crew can still be on the court and in the stands.
“Based on our discussion with our biosecurity officer, we maintain the playing area’s restriction. So whatever you see for basketball will apply to volleyball to ensure that we continue to protect our players, who are technically the only ones who will unmask while they play,” Calanog said.
“Also because of the new varieties may already be on our beaches, and secondly, because of the upcoming elections. We want to offer a safe environment for our student-athletes,” Canalog said.
Saguisag stated that the league is prepared to change its regulations in the event of a COVID-19 spike in the coming weeks.
